Shutter speed encapsulates a key part of conveying motion. The faster the you set your shutter speed,the sharper whatever you're trying to capture. On the opposing side, the slower your shutter the more likely you are to capture motion blur.

This image was captured using a 50mm prime lens set at f/2.8, 1/250s, iso 1600


To capture an image where the forefront of your image is sharp you require a faster shutter speed, the above image was captured using a 50mm prime lens set at f/2.8, 1/250s as subjects conveyed are continuously moving. A faster shutter speed of lets say 1/15 would have caused significant motion blur in this image.
